    PPS Presents

    2 Day Online Workshop by

    Christine Swann, PSA, IAPS-EP

    October 24 – 25, 2024

    $250.00

The Piedmont Pastel Society is excited to offer an online workshop with Christine Swann.  Through her two-day workshop, artists will build a portrait from start to finish from life.  She will teach her step-by-step, five-layer process in the pastel medium which focuses on accuracy and light.  Understanding the “Thirds of the Head” methodology will let any artist become more accurate in portrait work to obtain a likeness whether working from photos or a model.  The class will emphasize that understanding the Law of Light and its rules dictate how value and color are related when constructing the complex topography of the head.  Academic lessons on the structure of the head will also be covered along the way, but most important will be letting go of the terms “hard” or “soft” when talking about pastel and switching over to “power.”

    All levels welcome!
